I remember all those Sundays
We′d all gather round at Mamaw's house
Oak tree table in the kitchen
Where all the grown folks would sit down
All youngins runnin′ wild in the yard
Wasn't nowhere we could go that was too far
Mason jars of bacon grease on the stove in the kitchen
Pressure cooker cookin' peas and man that thing was whistlin′
When that cornbread hit the table
Papaw he would pray
Lord bless this food to our bodies and
Thank you for today
All the cousins we older
Mamaw and Papaw passed away
Now the only time we see them
Is to lay fresh flowers on their graves
Lord I miss those days of my youth
I′d do anything just to get back to

As the years pass by
I hope to be blessed with grandkids of my own
So I can pass down all the scripture
And the knowledge and the love that I was shown
When they lay me down in that hole
I'll be back with my grandparents where I know...
